Building Name: First United Methodist Church of Plymouth

City: Plymouth

Window Shape: 2 (rectangle)

Subject/Title of Window: God the Holy Spirit - Sanctification

Brief Description of Subject: Window depicts from left to right: the Holy Spirit in form of a dove. People praying. Crown in front of Latin cross with words "Love" and "Peace" beneath it. Five medallions depicting some of the Corporal works of mercy: 1: Bread and pitcher (Feed the hungry and give drink to the thirsty). 2: Shirt (Clothe the naked). 3: Bed, (Visit the sick?) 4: Open doors (Shelter the stranger). 5: Broken chains (Ransom the captive). Bury the dead is either missing or part of 3 or 4. The last medallion depicts the orb [globus cruciger] which is the sign of royalty.

There is also a window depicting God the Son's Nativity, of which no pictures were furnished us.
Pastor said these windows were from from the old church, which burnt down some hundred years after it was built. Ms. Montgomery thinks the windows look modern.

The MSGC is a constantly evolving database. Not all the data that has been collected by volunteers has been sorted and entered. Not every building has been completely documented.

All images in the Index are either born-digital photographs of windows or buildings or are scans of slides, prints, or other published sources. These images have been provided by volunteers and the quality of the material varies widely.
