Subject/Title of Window: Descending Dove

Brief Description of Subject: The roundel of this window was originally the rose window above the altar at the Holy Trinity Slovak Church in Detroit. With the merging of this parish with Historic Trinity in 1995, the Church was closed and this window was brought over to Historic Trinity. The window needed to fit the larger and rectangular space of its new home in the Luther Lounge, this was accomplished using plastic rather than glass.

The church refers to this as "The Slovak Window."

The roundel consists of floral and geometric patterns centered by a descending dove with a nimbus --- symbol of the Holy Spirit (Luke 3:22).

Martin and Mary Izak by her daughter Anna

The MSGC is a constantly evolving database. Not all the data that has been collected by volunteers has been sorted and entered. Not every building has been completely documented.

All images in the Index are either born-digital photographs of windows or buildings or are scans of slides, prints, or other published sources. These images have been provided by volunteers and the quality of the material varies widely.

If you have any questions, additions or corrections, or think you can provide better images and are willing to share them, please contact donald20@msu.edu
