WindowBuilding Name: Beecher Mansion, The
Studio Name: Tiffany Studios
Window Shape: 2 (rectangle)
Date of Window: 1894
Subject/Title of Window: Muse of Music
Brief Description of Subject: The entire window overlooks the first floor landing of the mansion's grand staircase. The central panel's toga-clad figure, which may represent the Muse of Music, holds Cupid, who plays a reed instrument while white doves hover in the foreground. Bars of musical notes in two of the flanking panels have been identified as melodies from the "Star Spangled Banner" and "There's No Place Like Home." Designed by Frederick Wilson and made by the Tiffany Glass and Decorating Company, the window was installed in 1894.
The MSGC is a constantly evolving database. Not all the data that has been collected by volunteers has been sorted and entered. Not every building has been completely documented.
All images in the Index are either born-digital photographs of windows or buildings or are scans of slides, prints, or other published sources. These images have been provided by volunteers and the quality of the material varies widely.
