Subject/Title of Window: The Pearl

Brief Description of Subject: Matthew 13:44 “The kingdom of God is like a merchant searching for fine pearls. When he finds a pearl of great price, he goes and sells all that he has and buys it.” The shores of lake Michigan are covered with shells and footprints. They remind us of this parable and our search for the one perfect pearl. The centerpiece of this window is a shell, which holds a round glass jewel. Here we see a beautiful image of that perfect pearl which we seek. This is also a symbol of the Bread of Life which is the pearl of great price.

The MSGC is a constantly evolving database. Not all the data that has been collected by volunteers has been sorted and entered. Not every building has been completely documented.

All images in the Index are either born-digital photographs of windows or buildings or are scans of slides, prints, or other published sources. These images have been provided by volunteers and the quality of the material varies widely.

If you have any questions, additions or corrections, or think you can provide better images and are willing to share them, please contact stainedglass@museum.msu.edu
