Building Name: Redemption Lutheran Church

City: Detroit

Window Shape: 2 (rectangle)

Subject/Title of Window: Ascension

Brief Description of Subject: Christ is seen here in his role of judge, teacher and King. Surrounding his head are seven stars and Alpha and Omega. Palms are also above him which recall the image of the throne of the lamb in the book of revelation. The hand of God is raised in blessing. Below him is the Dove of the Holy Spirit as well as seven flames symbolizing the gifts of the spirit and pentecost. The rainbow seen at the bottom represents the hope and promise of the covenant of God with Noah. Below the rainbow is the arc at sea, reminding us of Noah and it is a symbol of the Church.

The MSGC is a constantly evolving database. Not all the data that has been collected by volunteers has been sorted and entered. Not every building has been completely documented.

All images in the Index are either born-digital photographs of windows or buildings or are scans of slides, prints, or other published sources. These images have been provided by volunteers and the quality of the material varies widely.

If you have any questions, additions or corrections, or think you can provide better images and are willing to share them, please contact donald20@msu.edu
