Building Name: Redemption Lutheran Church

City: Detroit

Window Shape: 2 (rectangle)

Subject/Title of Window: Incarnation

Brief Description of Subject: This window shows Jesus opening the eyes of a blind man, symbolic for opening the eyes of all men to the light. Above him is the open Bible with the crosses of the four Gospels. The hand of God points downward symbolizing his creative thrust into history, especially in the gift of his son. The star on his hand is the star of the Epiphany, the universal light. The four candles represent the advent season. Below him is a small barn containing a crib reminding us of his birth. There is also a burning bush and star of David.

The MSGC is a constantly evolving database. Not all the data that has been collected by volunteers has been sorted and entered. Not every building has been completely documented.

All images in the Index are either born-digital photographs of windows or buildings or are scans of slides, prints, or other published sources. These images have been provided by volunteers and the quality of the material varies widely.

If you have any questions, additions or corrections, or think you can provide better images and are willing to share them, please contact donald20@msu.edu
