Building Name: Lincoln Community United Methodist Church

City: Ypsilanti

Subject/Title of Window: Clerestory Window: The Holy Spirit

Brief Description of Subject: The Celestory window places above the pulpit is themes with five side windows who represent, “God is the Light of the World.” Because of the window’s distance from the congregation and a person viewing it from outside, this window is a single symbol of larger scale than the other five. The window is colored more heavily than the others and represents the Holy Spirit by a large dove in a swirl of fiery tongues. Seven candlesticks represent the seven churches mentioned in Revelation. Relevant passages include: Matthew 3:16, Mark 1:10, John 1:32, Acts 2:3-4.

The MSGC is a constantly evolving database. Not all the data that has been collected by volunteers has been sorted and entered. Not every building has been completely documented.

All images in the Index are either born-digital photographs of windows or buildings or are scans of slides, prints, or other published sources. These images have been provided by volunteers and the quality of the material varies widely.
