Subject/Title of Window: Panel 18

Brief Description of Subject: A gold and gray in-painted white circle shows the Virgin Mary sitting on a bulky throne with a curved back topped with curved shell motif. As the Christ-child nestles in her left arm, she entertains him with a flower in her right hand. Surrounding the center medallion are three yellow and gray in-painted sections with filigree designs (one of which contains the date 1542). These pieces are separated by three solid dark-gold sections.

Heraldic significance:
White symbolizes cleanliness, wisdom, innocence, peace, sincerity, and joy. Gold symbolizes elevated thought and understanding, respect, virtue, majesty, and generosity. This panel displays one of the cornerstone Christian symbols – Christ's birth.

The MSGC is a constantly evolving database. Not all the data that has been collected by volunteers has been sorted and entered. Not every building has been completely documented.

All images in the Index are either born-digital photographs of windows or buildings or are scans of slides, prints, or other published sources. These images have been provided by volunteers and the quality of the material varies widely.
