Window
Building Name: St. John Lutheran ChurchCity: Rochester
Window Shape: 3 (arched)
Subject/Title of Window: The Good Shepherd
Brief Description of Subject: This window was created as the middle lancet of a three lancet window located over the front entrance of their 1950 Church. With a renovation to the facade, it was removed and is now found in a corridor with its own custom made frame; this necessitated that it be lit artificially.
The subject comes from John 10:14 --- Jesus said, "I am the Good Shepherd, I know my sheep and my sheep know me." The design brings to mind Isaiah 40:10 - 11, "See the sovereign Lord comes ... He tends his flock like a shepherd. He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart."
Circa 1970 photo shows this window in its original placement.

The MSGC is a constantly evolving database. Not all the data that has been collected by volunteers has been sorted and entered. Not every building has been completely documented.
All images in the Index are either born-digital photographs of windows or buildings or are scans of slides, prints, or other published sources. These images have been provided by volunteers and the quality of the material varies widely.
If you have any questions, additions or corrections, or think you can provide better images and are willing to share them, please contact donald20@msu.edu
