Brief Description of Subject: This two lancet window, with four scenes, is located in the narthex which is located under the balcony.
Scene 1: From the fall of man, Genesis 3:24 (KJV), "So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the Garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life." Because of Adam's sin, eternal life (tree of life) will be denied mankind.
Scene 2: St. Gabriel  pictured holding the Madonna Lily, a symbol for the Annunciation. Luke 1:26-27 (KJV), "And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto the city of Galilee to a virgin .. The virgin's name was Mary." Gabriel announced that she would bear the Savior. In John 14:6, Christ said, "I am the way." He will be sacrificed to atone for Adam's sin and open the way to eternal life. Note on the border are snowflakes which symbolize the forgiveness of sin ---Isaiah 1:18 (KJV), "Come now, and let us reason together; saith the Lord: though your sins be scarlet, they will be as white as snow."
Scene 3: Pictured is Revelation 12:7 (KJV), "And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought the angels, And prevailed not; neither was their place found in heaven."
Scene 4: Pictured is Revelation 22:1-2 (KJV), with the second coming, there will be the New Jerusalem, aka The New Eden --- "and he showed me a pure river of water of life, clean as a crystal, preceding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the midst of the street of it on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bear twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of nations."
The maker is identified at the bottom of the left lancet as "The J.&R. Lamb Studios."
The lower part of the lancets are in need of restoration.

The MSGC is a constantly evolving database. Not all the data that has been collected by volunteers has been sorted and entered. Not every building has been completely documented.

All images in the Index are either born-digital photographs of windows or buildings or are scans of slides, prints, or other published sources. These images have been provided by volunteers and the quality of the material varies widely.

If you have any questions, additions or corrections, or think you can provide better images and are willing to share them, please contact donald20@msu.edu
