Brief Description of Subject: This sacristy window illuminates the two sacraments that were instituted by Christ --- Holy Communion and Baptism. The cross, seen running down the entire length, is the symbol for Christ.
Holy Communion was instituted by Christ at the Last Supper and is found in Matthew 26:26 - 28. It is symbolized here with a chalice filled with wine and a wafer made of unleavened bread.
Baptism was instituted by Christ at the Great Commission as covered in Matthew 28:19. It is symbolized here with an olive branch. Olive oil is the chief ingredient in chrism which is used for anointing. In Baptism the forehead of the child is anointed with chrism implanting the presence of the Holy Spirit.
Chrism is also used in physical and spiritual healing. This is a practice that was already present by the beginning years of Christianity --- James 5:14 - 16 (NIV) --- "Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the Church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick man well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven."

The MSGC is a constantly evolving database. Not all the data that has been collected by volunteers has been sorted and entered. Not every building has been completely documented.
All images in the Index are either born-digital photographs of windows or buildings or are scans of slides, prints, or other published sources. These images have been provided by volunteers and the quality of the material varies widely.
