Subject/Title of Window: The Baptism of Jesus
Brief Description of Subject: Each of the six epistle side aisle windows illuminate a scene from the life of Jesus. This window's scene is taken from the Baptism of Jesus as found in Matthew 3:13 - 17.
Pictured is Jesus standing in the Jordan River with a light from heaven falling on him, and John the Baptist, wearing "clothes made of camel hair" (Mark 1:6), standing on the shore pouring water out of a shell, baptizing Jesus.
In the predella are three fish intertwined together. This is a symbol for the Trinity. All members took part in the Baptism --- Matthew 3:16 - 17, "As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was open, and he [John the Baptist] saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, 'This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.' "

The MSGC is a constantly evolving database. Not all the data that has been collected by volunteers has been sorted and entered. Not every building has been completely documented.
All images in the Index are either born-digital photographs of windows or buildings or are scans of slides, prints, or other published sources. These images have been provided by volunteers and the quality of the material varies widely.
