Subject/Title of Window: The 10th Station of the Cross, Jesus Is Stripped Of His Garments

Brief Description of Subject: This is the 10th of 14 clerestory windows in the Church, seven on each side, which cover the Stations of the Cross. Traditionally at each stop there will be a time for meditation. For these windows the top section covers the station while the bottom section has a meditation for that station.

The 10 station is, "Jesus is stripped of his garments." Pictured is John 19:23 - 24, When the soldiers crucified Jesus, they took his clothes, dividing them into four shares, one for each of them, with the tunic remaining. The tunic was seamless, woven in one piece from top to bottom. 'Let's not tear it,'  they said to one another. 'Let's decide by lots who will get it.'" Note this fulfills the prophecy in Psalm 22:18, "They divide my garments among themselves and throw dice for my clothing."

The meditation for this station is, "Jesus forgive me my part in it." Pictured is a seamless tunic, one of the Instruments of the Passion.

The MSGC is a constantly evolving database. Not all the data that has been collected by volunteers has been sorted and entered. Not every building has been completely documented.

All images in the Index are either born-digital photographs of windows or buildings or are scans of slides, prints, or other published sources. These images have been provided by volunteers and the quality of the material varies widely.

If you have any questions, additions or corrections, or think you can provide better images and are willing to share them, please contact donald20@msu.edu
