The symbols seen from top to bottom.
The seven tongues of fire symbolize the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit which one receives at Baptism. The seven are listed in John 14:26 --- wisdom, understanding, counsel, knowledge, fortitude, piety, and fear of the Lord.
A Baptismal font with baptismal water flowing underneath.
An acorn and oak leaves: One possible meaning can be found in Matthew 13:31 - 32 , where Jesus told the Parable of the Mustard Seed. One can substitute an acorn for the mustard seed as a recent Catholic Bible (MSG) has done --- "God's kingdom is like an acorn that a farmer plants. It is quite small as seeds go, but in the course of years it grows into a huge oak tree, and eagles build nests in it." Another possibility is that an oak tree can symbolize strength.

The MSGC is a constantly evolving database. Not all the data that has been collected by volunteers has been sorted and entered. Not every building has been completely documented.
All images in the Index are either born-digital photographs of windows or buildings or are scans of slides, prints, or other published sources. These images have been provided by volunteers and the quality of the material varies widely.
