Subject/Title of Window: Ornamental Bell Tower

Brief Description of Subject: There are two of these windows on the lower level of each of the bell towers. This one is located in the bell tower on the gospel side. They are designed to let light in.

The highly stylized pattern used is that of a fleur-de-lis --three lily petals bound together at their bases. Originally the fleur-de-lis was associated with the Trinity (3 petals) but by the13th Century it was a symbol of the Virgin Mary (flower of the lily).
