Subject/Title of Window: Mass, part 3

Brief Description of Subject: This is the third of 3 such windows. The medallions are to be read bottom to top.

The sketches of these windows by Marguerite Gaudin do not match their realization -- they differ mainly in the order of the medallions.

The bottom medallion has the inscription "Elevation". During the consecration of the host, the priest will recite the words of Christ from the Last Supper. When he gets to the words "FOR THIS IS MY BODY" he will ELEVATE the host for the congregation to view.

The middle section has the inscription " BREAKING of BREAD". Immediately after the "Our Father" prayer, the priest will recite "Deliver us, we beg You Lord, from every evil ......." as he says the words "Through the same Jesus Christ, Your Son, Our Lord; Who lives and reigns with Thee ...." he will BREAK the HOST vertically into two pieces..

The top medallion is inscribed "COWWUNION". When this window was assembled the "MM" piece was put in upside down. It should read "COMMUNION". Just before distributing Holy Communion the priest will face the congregation, take a host from the ciborium and while raising it above the ciborium, recite the words "Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world."

Comments from "Our Stained Glass Windows" c. 1970 "At the north (epistle side) wall of the sanctuary is one of the very significant and charming windows in the Church. It is a medallion type of window which relates, chiefly by the hands of the priest the progressive story of the Mass."
