Brief Description of Subject: This window is one of two windows in the side altar dedicated to St. Joseph. It features 3 medallions with important events in the life of St. Joseph.

Top Medallion --- "Finding in the Temple" is covered in Luke 2:41-52. Jesus had gone missing and after three days his parents found him in the Temple amazing the scholars with his knowledge. St. Joseph appears looking at Jesus with wonder.

Middle Medallion --- "Birth of Jesus" is in Luke 2:1-15 "and she brought forth her first born son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger, because there was no room at the inn." Joseph is seen looking at the Virgin Mary with joyful serenity.

Bottom Medallion --- Joseph's marriage is not covered in the scriptures so an artist has wide latitude in picturing the event. St. Joseph, with flowering staff (chosen by God) is seen in the process of placing the wedding ring on the finger of the Virgin Mary. Below the scene are a pair of doves --- the symbol of love and fidelity as they mate for life.

The MSGC is a constantly evolving database. Not all the data that has been collected by volunteers has been sorted and entered. Not every building has been completely documented.

All images in the Index are either born-digital photographs of windows or buildings or are scans of slides, prints, or other published sources. These images have been provided by volunteers and the quality of the material varies widely.

If you have any questions, additions or corrections, or think you can provide better images and are willing to share them, please contact donald20@msu.edu
