Building Name: St. Mary's of Redford ChurchCity: Redford
Window Shape: 3 (arched)
Subject/Title of Window: Seat of Wisdom
Brief Description of Subject: The clerestory windows are designed to let light into the Church and all have the same design --- a wide border of stylized lilies and three medallions. The center medallion will contain a symbol for an avocation found in the Litany of Loreto. The avocation symbolized in this window is "Seat of Wisdom, Pray for us."
Pictured is the throne of Solomon as described in 1Kings10:18-19: "a great throne of ivory and overlaid with finest gold and top of the throne was round." Seen in the round top of this throne is scriptures (Word of God) radiating light.
According to Cardinal John Newman: "Mary has this title in her Litany, because the Son of God, who is called in Scriptures the Word and Wisdom of God, once dwelt in her, and then, after His birth, was carried in her arms and seated in her lap in His first years. Thus, being as it were, the human throne of Him who reigns in heaven, she is called the "Seat of Wisdom."

The MSGC is a constantly evolving database. Not all the data that has been collected by volunteers has been sorted and entered. Not every building has been completely documented.
All images in the Index are either born-digital photographs of windows or buildings or are scans of slides, prints, or other published sources. These images have been provided by volunteers and the quality of the material varies widely.
