Window Shape: 2 (rectangle)

Subject/Title of Window: Pentecost

Brief Description of Subject: At Pentecost when the faithful were gathered in an upper room, they experienced the descent of the Holy Spirit as a rushing wind and flames of fire. The window shows the seven flames, symbolizing the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit. Blessing, glory, thanksgiving, honor, power and might (Revelations 7:12). The origin of the dove as a symbol for the holy spirit originates in the story of Christ baptism. The triparted cross is a rather obscure trinity symbol. In this version, the central members end in flame shapes.

The MSGC is a constantly evolving database. Not all the data that has been collected by volunteers has been sorted and entered. Not every building has been completely documented.

All images in the Index are either born-digital photographs of windows or buildings or are scans of slides, prints, or other published sources. These images have been provided by volunteers and the quality of the material varies widely.

If you have any questions, additions or corrections, or think you can provide better images and are willing to share them, please contact donald20@msu.edu
