Brief Description of Subject: Background: St. Bernardine of Siena (1380 - 1444) was a Franciscan missionary famous for his evangelizing and preaching. Pope Pius II called him a second Paul. He had a special devotion to the Holy Name of Jesus. He traveled from town to town with a tablet with the large letters "IHS" --- the name of Jesus.
