Subject/Title of Window: John the Baptist

Brief Description of Subject: The upper panels depict John baptizing Jesus in the Jordan. The descending dove represents God’s acceptance “This is my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased” (Matthew 3:17). The shell was a symbol of immortality and baptism. The left lower panel represents John imprisoned and in doubt about Jesus- “art though he that should come? Or look we for another (Luke 7:9). The right lower panel represents John’s pointing out Jesus to his own disciples, “Behold, the Lamb of God” (John 1:29). In an unselfish manner, John said, He must increase- I must decrease”.
