Building Name: St. Josaphat ChurchStudio Name: Detroit Stained Glass Works, The
City: Detroit
Window Shape: 3 (arched)
Subject/Title of Window: Apostle
Brief Description of Subject: Note: The Church, at some time in the past, put a plaque under this window identifying it as the apostle "Simon". Simon's attributes are a fish on a hook, fish on a book, a saw, an axe, two oars and a hatchet, fuller's bat, and a man being sawed longitudinally. I don't see any of these here. I believe it is more likely to be "Bartholomew" as his main attribute is a flaying knife.
Window description: An Apostle holding a flaying knife.
The crosshatching on the screen that was used for protection on the outside is visible on the curtain and the tunic.
Height: ~10.75'
Width: ~3.33'

The MSGC is a constantly evolving database. Not all the data that has been collected by volunteers has been sorted and entered. Not every building has been completely documented.
All images in the Index are either born-digital photographs of windows or buildings or are scans of slides, prints, or other published sources. These images have been provided by volunteers and the quality of the material varies widely.
If you have any questions, additions or corrections, or think you can provide better images and are willing to share them, please contact donald20@msu.edu
