Subject/Title of Window: The Youth of our Salvation

Brief Description of Subject: Window Two. The journey from Egypt back to the land of the birth is delineated by the road that starts at a well and an oasis in the desert of Egypt. Jesus, the youth desirous to be about the work of his father’s house returned to the Holy Lands with his parents. He, the light of the world, (depicted by the lamp) finds his way into the temple of God. The temple takes the form of a columned the symbol superimposed on the temple is the monogram of our Lord Jesus. He was about His father’s work in the temple among the doctors and scribes of the Law. The pierced heart reminds us of the first time Jesus was in the temple when Simeon of old said to Mary, yea a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also. The carpenters square is a symbol of Joseph. Jesus was also called the carpenters son. Jesus came to rule in peace from the city of peace, Jerusalem. The city is pictured at the top of the window with David’s harp and the royal crown above the city.

The MSGC is a constantly evolving database. Not all the data that has been collected by volunteers has been sorted and entered. Not every building has been completely documented.

All images in the Index are either born-digital photographs of windows or buildings or are scans of slides, prints, or other published sources. These images have been provided by volunteers and the quality of the material varies widely.
