Building Name: Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church

City: Southgate

Window Shape: 2 (rectangle)

Subject/Title of Window: Good Friday

Brief Description of Subject: Window Eight. The purple robe and crown of thorns symbolizes the manner in which Jesus was mocked as a king at his trial. The road leading up the hill on which are three crosses, is the ‘via colorosa’ (way of grief) up to Golgotha “Jesus of Nazareth, King of Jews”. The dark cloud covering the face of the sun depicts the darkness from the sixth to ninth hour, the holy city (Matthew 27:45-54). The green stripe across the stone symbolizes the sepulcher seal (Matthew 27:66).

The MSGC is a constantly evolving database. Not all the data that has been collected by volunteers has been sorted and entered. Not every building has been completely documented.

All images in the Index are either born-digital photographs of windows or buildings or are scans of slides, prints, or other published sources. These images have been provided by volunteers and the quality of the material varies widely.
