Notes: St. Gregory the Great (c.540 - 604) was one of the Doctors of the Church and served as Pope from 590 - 604. A popular legend credits Gregory with composing or collecting and categorizing a form of spiritual music to use during Mass or Monastic Office. Appropriately enough that music goes by the name "Gregorian Chant". Unusual that as a Polish Catholic Church the window uses Galileo Galilei as the person to represent Astronomy rather than the Polish priest Nicholas Copernicus. Galileo Galilei faced the inquisition for promoting the sun centered universe of Nicholas Copernicus and spent the rest of his life under house arrest.

The MSGC is a constantly evolving database. Not all the data that has been collected by volunteers has been sorted and entered. Not every building has been completely documented.

All images in the Index are either born-digital photographs of windows or buildings or are scans of slides, prints, or other published sources. These images have been provided by volunteers and the quality of the material varies widely.

If you have any questions, additions or corrections, or think you can provide better images and are willing to share them, please contact donald20@msu.edu
