Building Name: Mariners' Church

Studio Name: Willet Hauser Architectural Glass

City: Detroit

Window Shape: 3 (arched)

Subject/Title of Window: Revelation, Window 4

Brief Description of Subject: This is the last in a series of 4 windows with a scene taken from the Book of Revelation and located in the passageway leading into the bell tower.

The "Tree of Life" dominates this window. The tree was first mentioned in the Garden of Eden (Gen.2:9). The Holy City, the New Jerusalem, is the setting for this "tree of life" and is described in Rev. 22:1-2 --- The New Jerusalem has "the river of the water of life, bright as a crystal, flowing from the throne of God and the Lamb through the middle of the street. On either side of the river is the tree of life with its twelve kinds of fruit, producing its fruit each month; and the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations."

The MSGC is a constantly evolving database. Not all the data that has been collected by volunteers has been sorted and entered. Not every building has been completely documented.

All images in the Index are either born-digital photographs of windows or buildings or are scans of slides, prints, or other published sources. These images have been provided by volunteers and the quality of the material varies widely.
