Window Shape: 6 (gothic arched, more than 2 vertical sections)

Subject/Title of Window: Christ Enthroned

Brief Description of Subject: This window is located above the altar in the sanctuary. Pictured is the enthroned Christ being praised by angels, which comes from Isaiah's vision:

"I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne ... above him were Seraphim ... and they were calling to one another, Holy, holy, holy is the Lord almighty; the whole earth is full of your glory." Isaiah 6:1 - 3 (ESV)

In the canopy are angels holding a banner that reads "Holy Holy Holy." The enthroned Lord is holding the "globus cruciger," --- symbol for authority over the earth. Surrounding Him are angels exalting God with music:

"Praise ye the Lord. Praise God in his sanctuary ... Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with psaltery and harp. Praise him with timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs." Psalm 150:1 -5 (KJV)

Also seen praising the Lord are bell ringing angels and angels with censers.

The Holy Spirit, in the form of a dove, is radiating its light onto the Lord. Above the dove are the two crowns of Christ --- the "Crown of Thorns" and the crown worn as the "King of Heaven."

The MSGC is a constantly evolving database. Not all the data that has been collected by volunteers has been sorted and entered. Not every building has been completely documented.

All images in the Index are either born-digital photographs of windows or buildings or are scans of slides, prints, or other published sources. These images have been provided by volunteers and the quality of the material varies widely.

If you have any questions, additions or corrections, or think you can provide better images and are willing to share them, please contact donald20@msu.edu
