Subject/Title of Window: Maundy Thursday

Brief Description of Subject: Description: Each sacristy window contains symbols of the important days celebrated throughout the liturgical year starting with Advent. This is the 7th window and contains symbols for Maundy Thursday -- more popularly known as "Holy Thursday". The Last Supper took place on this day. Some of the highlights of the Last Supper includes Jesus washing the feet of the apostles showing his humility, taking bread and saying "This is My body", taking the chalice and saying "This is My blood", also he gave a new commandment (John 12:34) "Love one another, As I loved you, so must you love one another". This commandment gives the name to this day as "maundy" comes from the Old French word "mande" which means "commandment". Symbols seen in this window are a water pitcher and basin, a chalice with grapes to its right, and wafer with a cross superimposed on it. I believe the object to the left of the chalice might be a stalk of wheat.

The MSGC is a constantly evolving database. Not all the data that has been collected by volunteers has been sorted and entered. Not every building has been completely documented.

All images in the Index are either born-digital photographs of windows or buildings or are scans of slides, prints, or other published sources. These images have been provided by volunteers and the quality of the material varies widely.
