Subject/Title of Window: Boy Jesus at the Temple, Nativity, Baptism of Jesus
Brief Description of Subject: The transept and facade windows feature the Christian doctrine of Jesus Christ as written in the Nicene Creed. This window, located in the epistle side transept covers, "I Believe ... Jesus ... was incarnate of the ... Virgin Mary and became truly a human."
The primary subject of the left lancet is the "Boy Jesus at the Temple" as covered in Luke 2:46 - 48, "After three days they found him in the temple courts, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions. Everyone who heard him, was amazed at his understanding and answers." Above is a lit oil lamp, the symbol for knowledge, and below two scrolls, one open the other closed probably symbolizing some of the teachers in the temple were open to Jesus' interpretation of the scriptures while others were not.
The primary subject of the middle lancet is the birth of Jesus. Pictured is a typical Nativity scene --- Mary and Joseph looking down with the Christ child in a manger while above shines the Star of Bethlehem. The Church found the original face of Mary unacceptable and some time before 1972 it was redone to their liking. Above is a daisy, the symbol of innocence, below are three crowns, the symbol for the Magi that came to adore the Christ child.
The primary subject of the right lancet is the Baptism of Jesus as found in Matthew 3:16 - 17, "As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, 'This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. John is holding a stick with a cross at the top announcing the coming of Christ and his death on the cross. Note the presence of the Trinity in the Baptism of Jesus. Above is the Shield of the Trinity (Scutum Fidei) that dates to the 12th Century. It visually depicts the mystery of the Trinity that one God is made up of three distinct individuals. The circle around each of the individuals and God means they always existed and will exist forever as a circle has no beginning or end.

The MSGC is a constantly evolving database. Not all the data that has been collected by volunteers has been sorted and entered. Not every building has been completely documented.
All images in the Index are either born-digital photographs of windows or buildings or are scans of slides, prints, or other published sources. These images have been provided by volunteers and the quality of the material varies widely.
