Subject/Title of Window: Alpha and Omega

Brief Description of Subject: All of the aisle windows consist of three lancets which were designed to let light into the Church. Each contains a shield with a Christian symbol.

The shield in this window features a book (Bible) with the capital Greek letters "Alpha" and "Omega" --- the first and last letters in their alphabet. This has become a symbol of the Lord, and has its origin in Revelation 1:8, "I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, said the Lord, which is, and which was and is to come, the Almighty," (KJV).

As a note, the New Testament was originally written in Greek. When it was translated into other languages the Greek letters "Alpha" and "Omega" for this passage were not translated. Had they been translated into English, the phrase would have been written as "I am A and Z."
