Brief Description of Subject: The Narthex Window
Jesus blessing the children, is the subject of the narthex window, beautiful in its rich tones of red, green, blue and lavender. Jesus is shown with his hand raised in blessing over the head of a little child, while a group of mothers and children look on. The scene recalls Jesus' words to the disciples, "Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not, for of such is the Kingdom of Heaven." Two disciples are pictured standing behind Jesus.

The window is bordered with flowers of red and yellow and apricot, suggesting the flower-covered fields and hills of Palestilne. Doves, emblems of innocence, hover overhead, and at the children's feet.

The MSGC is a constantly evolving database. Not all the data that has been collected by volunteers has been sorted and entered. Not every building has been completely documented.

All images in the Index are either born-digital photographs of windows or buildings or are scans of slides, prints, or other published sources. These images have been provided by volunteers and the quality of the material varies widely.
