Subject/Title of Window: Life of St. Paul, left lancet

Brief Description of Subject: Top: the Lamb of God the Son The Conversion of St. Paul on the Damascus Road (Acts Chap. 9). In the Church’s year this is celebrated on January 25. A light is seen coming from Heaven and Saul’s horse is shown rearing as it senses the Miraculous Presence. Small center medallion, St. Paul’s sight is restored by Ananias (Acts 9:17) In the large section below this we see St. Barnabas bringing Paul to meet the Disciples (Acts 9:27). Bottom, the open book inscribed with three fountains, a traditional symbol of St. Paul. The Three Fountains is a traditional site in Rome, said to be the place where Paul was beheaded. The legend is that as his head fell, it spoke three words, “Father, Son, Spirit.” At these three points springs of water gushed forth from the ground. The Fountains may be seen to this day.
