Subject/Title of Window: St. Philip the Apostle

Brief Description of Subject: Background: St. Philip was one of the 12 apostles. According to legend he was martyred in Hieropolis where he was preaching with St. Bartholomew to pagans that were worshipping a serpent. Through their prayers the serpent died. The pagans were angry and crucified them upside down. As they were on the cross a big quake opened up the earth and swallowed some of the pagans. They were so afraid they took them down from the cross. Bartholomew was alive and released but Philip had already died.

Description of Window: St. Philip the Apostle is seen holding an upside down cross (method of death) and a book (preaching the word of God) with a serpent on top. You see the serpent's head and the start of his body as it coils behind St. Philip.
