Brief Description of Subject: This window represents the story of Ruth and her mother-in-law Naomi, as recorded in the biblical Book of Ruth. Naomi, an Israelite woman from Bethlehem, and Ruth, a Moabite woman, lived in the country of Moab. After both their husbands died, Naomi decided to return to Bethlehem and encouraged Ruth to return to her Moabite family and remarry. However, Ruth replied, "Entreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God” (Ruth 1: 16-17).
