Building Notes: The Church is a complex of offices and meeting rooms, the rectangular portion, which is the actual Church is referred by the Church as the "auditorium."

In 1857 the present Church was built. It was rectangular in form (auditorium) with a tall steeple that rose over the main door.

In the 1890 's the steeple became unstable (some articles say it was toppled by high winds). The Church hired Detroit architect Julius Hess to fix the problem and update the appearance. Work started in 1898 and was finished in 1899. Hess replaced the entire façade with one designed in the Grecian Doric style and bookended this with two rectangular towers. If you enlarge the Church photo you will notice the different color of the bricks on the tower and façade from those on the side of the Church.

At this time, in addition to windows now required for the façade and towers, the Church replaced the nine windows in the Church (auditorium). Hence the year 1899 as the date for the Church windows.

There have been no significant changes to the Church (auditorium) since then.
