Subject/Title of Window: John Wesley

Brief Description of Subject: The eight south windows represent the development of Protestantism, with emphasis on the Methodist Church and Methodist higher education at Adrian College John Wesley’s (1703-1891 A.D.) “hour of decision” on evening of May 24, 1738 while attending a Moravian service in Aldersgate Street. Three figuires in upper portion: Jacobus Arminius, who influenced Wesley theologically, Charles Wesley writing music, and George Whitefield, preaching. Lower left: globe of world and Wesley’s clock pointing to a quarter to nine. The dominating theme is Wesley’s “hour of decision” on May 24, 1738. While attending a Moravian service that evening in Aldergate Street, Wesley later wrote “about a quarter to nice, I felt my heart strangly warmed.” The three figures in the upper portion of the window are Jacobus Arminius, who influenced John Wesley theologically,Charles Wesley wrtiting music, and George Whitefield, Preaching. At the lower left are the globe of the world and Wesley’s clock pointing to a quarter of nine.
