Brief Description of Subject: The eight south windows represent the development of Protestantism, with emphasis on the Methodist Church and Methodist higher education at Adrian College Central Theme: 1939 Uniting of Methodism. Central figure: Bishop Edwin Holt Hughes of Methodist Epsicopal Church. On left: bishop James H. Straughn of Methodist Protestant Church. On right: Bishop John M. Moore of Methodist Episcopal Church, South. Top right: symbol of world Council of Churches. Behind central figures: elongated cross and flas of United States. Here the central theme is the memorable scene of the 1939 Uniting of Methodism. The central figure is Bishop Edwin Holt Hughes of the Methodist Episcopal Church. The figure on the left is Bishop James H. Straughn of the methodist Protestant Church. Bishop John M. Moore of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South is on the right. At the top right corner is the stylized symbol of the World Council of Churches. Behind the central figures is an elongated cross and the flag of the United States America. Christian service symbolized by central figure of St. Francis of Assisi (1181-1226 A.D.) arms outstretched. Other figures represent St. Francis comforting animas, helping the needy, building the Church, sending friars out to preach Gospel throughout world.
