Subject/Title of Window: Wisdom
Brief Description of Subject: One in a set of three windows located on the East wall of Nave. Wisdom depicts many small symbols and portraits representing different humanities. At the bottom of the V is the shinto symbol Tomoye, the revolution of the Universe through Wisdom. At the top of the windows are world religions, Christianity, Judaism, Mohammodan , Taoism, Buddhism and Hinduism. Most windows in the Alumni Memorial Chapel are sets of three on the same general topic with the same donor. This window is grouped with Truth (L3a) and Beauty (L3c). All seeing eye of God surrounded by emblems of world faiths. At the base of the piece is a triskilion depicting the motion and change and dynamicism of the world in which the faiths are practiced. The study of History is represented by the great Sphinx of Eqypt, the caryatids of the Erectheum, Greece and the Laws of Hammurabi of Babylonia. The Study of Philosphy is represented by portraits of Aristotle and Francis Bacon. The Study of Literature is represented by a portrait of Homer. Designed by Anthony Mako.
