Subject/Title of Window: The Ascension Window

Brief Description of Subject: Above the upper balcony, set in the east wall of the nave, is a three panel window. The center panel portrays the figure of Christ. His hands are raised in blessing. In his hands and feet are the prints of crucifixion nails. Surrounding Christ are clouds, suggesting to us his final parting from his disciples following his resurrection (Acts 1:9) “As they were looking, He was taken up; and a cloud received Him out of their sight.” On either side of Jesus stands an angel. The left angel has his hands folded in prayer and the right has his hands in adoration following passage Acts 1:10, “And while they were looking steadfastly into heaven as He went, behold two men stood by them in white apparel who also said, ‘Why stand ye looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was received up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye behold Him going to heaven.’ Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the Mount called Olivet.” The upper panels form eight cherubs, representing heavenly hosts waiting to welcome the risen Saviour.

The MSGC is a constantly evolving database. Not all the data that has been collected by volunteers has been sorted and entered. Not every building has been completely documented.

All images in the Index are either born-digital photographs of windows or buildings or are scans of slides, prints, or other published sources. These images have been provided by volunteers and the quality of the material varies widely.
