Building Name: Lincoln Community United Methodist Church

City: Ypsilanti

Subject/Title of Window: Creation

Brief Description of Subject: One of five side windows who represent, together with the Clerestory window above the pulpit, “God is the Light of the World.” Creation has three primary colors, red, yellow, and blue, which combine at the top of the window and contract into a white circle which symbolizes the Creator, who is the source of light. The beam from the source of light makes the earth visible as it is being created. A smaller white beam reaches up from the Creator and causes the light on the stars. Among the passages from the Bible which are relevant for this window are: Genesis 1:3-4, John 1:5, 8:12 and 3:16, II Corinthians 4:6

The MSGC is a constantly evolving database. Not all the data that has been collected by volunteers has been sorted and entered. Not every building has been completely documented.

All images in the Index are either born-digital photographs of windows or buildings or are scans of slides, prints, or other published sources. These images have been provided by volunteers and the quality of the material varies widely.

If you have any questions, additions or corrections, or think you can provide better images and are willing to share them, please contact donald20@msu.edu
