Building Name: Lincoln Community United Methodist Church

City: Ypsilanti

Subject/Title of Window: Redemption

Brief Description of Subject: This center side window is one of five side windows who represent, together with the Clerestory window above the pulpit, “God is the Light of the World.” As the center, Christ is depicted as the Light of the World. His figure is one of the most recognizable forms in all the windows. His halo shines with golden light which extends downward toward a more abstract human figure. The gold turning red as it descends recalls that man is saved by the blood of Christ. His hands are extended in benediction over the human, who kneels within a chalice as a symbol of purification drawn from Christ. Among relevant passages: Matthew 4:16, Luke 2:32, 8:16, John 1:4-5, 3:19-21, 5:35, 8:12, 11:9, 12:35-36, 46

The MSGC is a constantly evolving database. Not all the data that has been collected by volunteers has been sorted and entered. Not every building has been completely documented.

All images in the Index are either born-digital photographs of windows or buildings or are scans of slides, prints, or other published sources. These images have been provided by volunteers and the quality of the material varies widely.
