Brief Description of Subject: The Risen Christ Appearing to the Virgin is the sixth of seven windows along the Gospel side of the Church. Each features one of the Seven Joys of Mary.
One of the earliest mentions of this joyous event was by the 5th Century Roman poet Sedulius in his "Carmen Paschale."
Words spoken by John Paul II --- "A fifth-century author, Sedulius, maintains that in the splendor of his risen life, Christ first showed himself to his mother. In fact, she who at the Annunciation was the way he entered the world, was called to spread the marvelous news of the Resurrection in order to become the herald of his glorious coming. Thus bathed in the glory of the Risen One, she anticipates the Church's splendor."

The MSGC is a constantly evolving database. Not all the data that has been collected by volunteers has been sorted and entered. Not every building has been completely documented.
All images in the Index are either born-digital photographs of windows or buildings or are scans of slides, prints, or other published sources. These images have been provided by volunteers and the quality of the material varies widely.
