Brief Description of Subject: This is one of six windows located high up in the sanctuary. Pictured here is a pelican feeding its young.
In Legend, the Pelican so loved its own chicks that it would pierce its own breast to feed them blood to save them from starvation. This came to symbolize Christ's shedding his own blood for our salvation.
This window was designed by Margaret Bouchez Cavanaugh when she worked at the Detroit Stained Glass Works.
