Brief Description of Subject: The winged-eagle represents the Gospel writer John. The eagle was thought to be able to fly toward the sun with eyes wide open. John's account recounts the divine nature of Christ and encourages Christians to look on eternity without flinching as they journey to their union with God.

The winged-lion represents Gospel writer Mark. The lion represents courage and monarchy. Christ is King of all. Christians should be courageous on their journey to the King.
