Building Name: St. Charles Catholic Church

City: Newport

Window Shape: 3 (arched)

Date of Window: 1946

Subject/Title of Window: Coronation

Brief Description of Subject: Arched window depicting Coronation of Our Lady. She kneels as her Son places a crown on her head. Two angels above kneel, while Holy Spirit in form of Dove sheds ray of light on her.
Shield at bottom of window depicts hand raised in blessing, with cruciform halo around it, to show that it is Jesus' hand. Part of a set of fifteen windows depicting the mysteries of the Rosary.
Protected on exterior by Lexan. Form says Lexan was installed in 1946, but Lexan had not been invented then, so this is likely a mistake, intended only to say that the window was installed in 1946. Owing to addition of new chapel, this is now partially an interior window.

The MSGC is a constantly evolving database. Not all the data that has been collected by volunteers has been sorted and entered. Not every building has been completely documented.

All images in the Index are either born-digital photographs of windows or buildings or are scans of slides, prints, or other published sources. These images have been provided by volunteers and the quality of the material varies widely.

If you have any questions, additions or corrections, or think you can provide better images and are willing to share them, please contact donald20@msu.edu
