Subject/Title of Window: Rose Window dedicated to Mary

Brief Description of Subject: The large rose window is dedicated to Mary and commemorates seven sorrows of her life. 
The letters in the center of the rose contain all the letters of the word Maria. The M has an I running through the center. The left stroke of the M contains the letter A and the right stroke contains the letter R. 
Upper left- Flight into Egypt symbolizes by birds in flight. Mary (white bird) carries the child (small bird beneath) Joseph (large bird) hovers above.
Upper-Mary’s heart pierced with seven swords (prophecy of Simeon)
Upper- right burial of Jesus symbolized by tomb.
Middle left-circumcision symbolized by Tablets (Hebrew Law) with knife placed on table
Lower- Meeting of Jesus and Mary on way to Calvary symbolized by cross, crown of thorns, and two hands (one palm up, other down)
Middle-right Jesus taken from Cross symbolized by bare cross and winding sheet
Lower left- loss of Jesus in the temple symbolized by mother bird finding empty nest.
Lower- right crucifixion symbolized by cross, crown of thorn, nails, lance and sponge.
