Brief Description of Subject: “…one was a shepherdess on the green.” Joan of Arc, 1412-France, the crown is that of Charles VII, whose armies Joan inspired to victory over the English. The sheep and crook belong to the shepherd, and the rays symbolize the divine voices whose commands she followed.
