Subject/Title of Window: East Window

Brief Description of Subject: The stained glass windows, in abstract movement of lights and color, symbolize the work of the Three Persons of the Holy Trinity. They attempt to convey in expressionistic play of color alone without obvious and realistic references, this central mystery of the faith.

The design of the East window, dedicated to God and Father, Creator, is based on the opening verses in Genesis: In the beginning God created the Heaven and Earth--- and God said, “Let there be light”. As the most frequently encountered symbolic image throughout the scriptures is that of “Light”, there is in this window a bursting forth of Light and Energy from a vortex, moving outward and overcoming the darkness. Green the color of life and renewal, is accented in the glass.

The MSGC is a constantly evolving database. Not all the data that has been collected by volunteers has been sorted and entered. Not every building has been completely documented.

All images in the Index are either born-digital photographs of windows or buildings or are scans of slides, prints, or other published sources. These images have been provided by volunteers and the quality of the material varies widely.

If you have any questions, additions or corrections, or think you can provide better images and are willing to share them, please contact donald20@msu.edu
