Subject/Title of Window: Altar Window

Brief Description of Subject: The stained glass windows, in abstract movement of lights and color, symbolize the work of the Three Persons of the Holy Trinity. They attempt to convey in expressionistic play of color alone without obvious and realistic references, this central mystery of the faith.

The clerestory (clearstory) window in the altar wall celebrates the divine action of God the Holy Spirit, Sanctifier and recalls the promise: I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh (Acts 2:17). From the white light at the apex there is a pouring out of joyous color, moving and descending commemorating the continuing Pentecost of the Spirit.

The MSGC is a constantly evolving database. Not all the data that has been collected by volunteers has been sorted and entered. Not every building has been completely documented.

All images in the Index are either born-digital photographs of windows or buildings or are scans of slides, prints, or other published sources. These images have been provided by volunteers and the quality of the material varies widely.

If you have any questions, additions or corrections, or think you can provide better images and are willing to share them, please contact donald20@msu.edu
