Subject/Title of Window: The Good Shepherd

Brief Description of Subject: The Rev A.B. Flower who came to Lexington as a missionary in 1869 named the Church of the Good Shepherd. The mission he established was the first Episcopal Church in the thumb of Michigan. The Good Shepherd is one of the oldest references Christ made of his mission. He called himself the Good Shepherd. In the beautiful shepherd for the Second Sunday after Easter (1928 Prayer book) when he said, I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd gives his life for the sheep. But he that is a hireling, and not the shepherd whose own sheep are not, see the wolf coming, and leaves the sheep and flees. And the wolf catches them and scatters the sheep, am the good shepherd; and know my sheep and am known of mine… and I lay down my life for the sheep (St. John X).

The MSGC is a constantly evolving database. Not all the data that has been collected by volunteers has been sorted and entered. Not every building has been completely documented.

All images in the Index are either born-digital photographs of windows or buildings or are scans of slides, prints, or other published sources. These images have been provided by volunteers and the quality of the material varies widely.

If you have any questions, additions or corrections, or think you can provide better images and are willing to share them, please contact donald20@msu.edu
